Switching between synt oils?

Special forum devoted to discussing strictly motorcycle related lubrication and filtration issues.

Hello, this is my first post. I just heard something that I would like to verify. Using motorcycle synthetic oil, I heard that if you switch between brands, you should run dino oil before to 'clean out' any problems.
***********
There are components of the "synt" that DO NOT play well with each other and can cause damage to seals. AS SUCH IT WAS RECOMMENDED that if you choose to change between various makes of "synt" oils, to RUN ONE SESSION OF "DINO" OIL IN BETWEEN THE TWO MAKES OF "SYNT" OILS. This will clean out the additives of the previous "synt".

What is your take on this information? Thanks.

A "myth". The only common synthetic basestock that doesn't "play well with others" is polyalkylene glycol, but you won't see that being used for automotive or motorcycle oils. Switch at will. They are all compatible. You may not be getting the BEST performance by mixing them because the chemistry may be BEST left untouched, but you won't be hurting anything. And, the mixing of two synthetics is going to give you better results than a dino and a synthetic.

Sabretooth,

Don't worry yourself over switching, all the myths out there will screw with your head. There is no harm in switching brands and to think you have to run some dino oil through it first is nothing more than some old wives tell that has been passed around for decades. I wish people would stop spreading this crap around. Steve
