Paint Protection

Car Waxes, Tire Cleaners, Leather Cleaners, etc. Let us know what products work, which ones don't.

I am buying a new vehicle, did all the paper work yesterday, order the options I want and now I just have to wait for it to be built.
But before I finished up, the in-house 'vehicle protection expert' gave me the run down on all the special paint, trim, carpet protection & window tinting options I can/should get.
I said no for now, but would think about it. As I see it, todays paint and trim materials are very good, and if I wax the body work twice a year, and treat the leather every few months, I should have no troubles.

But I'd like to see if any one out there has had any experience with this sort of stuff.

The paint protection is supposed to put a barrier on the paint and smooth the surface, thus stopping oxidation, acid rain, bird droppings, etc from damaging the paint. http://www.mingss.com.au/

Is all these types of services/products a con?

Some of these treatments work, but they're not much better than what you can buy for pennies on the dollar compared to what the dealer charges. This kind of thing is pure profit for the dealer.

Thanks, I agree but some of thier hype sounds convincing.

The website link sucks. They don't have any information on there besides an email and address.

Like BigAl said, the stuff may work, but that's not really the point. You can buy good quality stuff & do it yourself & save tons of $$$.

I've known people who have had this done....I'd say its only alittle bit better than a wax job...very little....it didn't even last a year on the paint.....also the interior of most cars already have scotch guard on them. If not you can buy the stuff cheap in a spray can. Also undercoating is not always such a good thing...Some it say its bad because they will spray the stuff under the car and it could do more harm than good by blocking a drain hole....or creating a place for water to be trapped........
